About our History
The National Federation formed in 1976 and the first national run competition took place in 1983 and has been run as a biennial event since.
There are clubs all over the country, including Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, Wellington, Tasman, Canterbury and Otago.
If you want to form your own club all you need is a President, a secretary and a band of avid brewers!
River Valley Amateur Wine Makers and Brewers Guild
We are a proud affiliated member of the New Zealand Winemakers and Brewers Federation (FAWAB), bringing together enthusiasts who craft beer, wine, and spirits using organic ingredients.
Whether you’re an experienced brewer or just starting out, we warmly welcome new members and visitors alike. Our group meets once a month at a members house, or at a local brewery or winery.
Each gathering features all things brewing, with beer making, distilling or winemaking days which are fun and educational. We also have coveted prizes for beer and winemakers, and the hotly contested pikelet plate.
In addition to our monthly meetings, we organise an annual local competition and actively participate in regional and national events throughout the year. Join us to share knowledge, refine your craft, and be part of a passionate community of home brewers and winemakers.
